Stormont XC

The impending menace of Storm Ciara with warnings of catastrophic wind and rain did little to deter competitors at this weekends Stormont XC hosted by the NICSAC on the Stormont Estate.  In the Male Veterans race Gerry O’Doherty continued his recent good form to finish in second place with a time of 21.46.  In the Male Open Race Ryan Galway produced an excellent performance to finish 15th in 25.39 and Alex Brennan was 31st with a time of 26.40.

Armagh International Road Races

The very popular and highly Armagh International Road Races will take place on Thursday 13th February and the teams selected to represent NI & Ulster have been announced.   In the men’s race Ben Branagh (St Malachys AC), Neil Johnston (Springwell RC), Patrick McNiff (Newcastle AC) and JP Williamson (City of Derry Spartans) have been selected while in the lady’s race Nakita Burke (Letterkenny AC), Rachel Gibson (North Down AC), Laura Graham (Mourne Runners) and Sarah Lavery (Beechmount Harriers) will be wearing the international vest.

The Purple Ladies 5k

As the number of obstacles being placed in the way of clubs organising road races increases, we are glad to announce that the Purple Ladies 5k will be taking place this year on the 29th April.  This very popular “ladies only” race will be starting from the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre in Ballymoney at 7.30pm and online entries are available at https://athleticsni.org/Fixtures/Purple-Ladies-5k.
