Springwell Running Club

In 2002 the experience of the Roe Valley Athletic Club and the enthusiasm of the North Coast Runners amalgamated to form Springwell Running Club, which from an initial 43 members has grown into a very successful, dynamic club of almost 400 members serving the Coleraine, Ballymoney, Garvagh and Limavady areas.

Springwell Running Club welcomes runners regardless of ability and fitness. Since its creation Springwell Running Club has invested heavily in coaching, with many being trained to levels 1, 2 and 3, creating a wealth of experience and expertise which has enabled the club to attract, retain and develop members of all ages and abilities. The club offers a varied training programme, with 13 supervised training sessions per week, suited to all fitness levels.

Our very strong junior section, with its philosophy of introducing children to athletics at an early age, with the emphasis on fun, has proved successful and resulted in our junior ranks winning honours at District, Ulster and Irish levels and a number earning representative honours for Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Springwell Running Club members regularly compete at a variety of distances from track and field events of 800m, 1500m and 3000m, through the 5k and 10k events to the half marathon and marathon and even ultramarathon distances in excess of 100 miles on a multitude of terrains, including track, road, grass, trail and mountain.

Springwell Running Club has been represented at many of the world’s major marathon events, including Boston, Chicago, London and Berlin as well as taking part in events in locations as varied as the Arctic Circle and the Sahara Desert.
